Joe Shugart is an Atlanta-based designer at Acuity Brands who also takes on various freelance projects. 

He focuses on brand identity design — creating expressive, consistent systems from thoughtful stories and strategy. Outside of Acuity Brands, he works with local small businesses to design resonating visual brands, ensuring the identity systems highlight the company's best qualities. His approach is guided by collaboration, curiosity, and attention to detail. 

When not designing, Joe is usually out in his local park with his wife and daughter, experimenting with a New York Times recipe or practicing his Japanese.
